Thonon-les-Bains is found on the shores of Lake Geneva and is the second most populated town in Haute-Savoie. In Thonon les Bains you can take a ride on the Funicular. Dating back to 1888, the Funicular trundles 46 metres up the slope from Quai de Rives to the upper part of town. The thing that sets it apart from every other funicular in the world, is that the track curves to the top rather than running in a straight line.

When in Thonon you can visit the Musee du Chablais. Right at the heart of the belvederes is the 17th century Chateau de Sonnaz, which is the museum about the historic Chabalais Province.

Due to Thonon being right on the shores of Lake Geneva, you can spend the summer days on the beaches here enjoying the sunshine. You can go swimming in the clear still water of the lake or also hire some kayaks and go exploring.
