Courchevel is a part of Les Trois Vallées ski regoin, the largest linked ski areas in the world. Courchevel also refers to the towns of Courchevel 1300 (Le Praz), Courchevel 1550, Courchevel 1650 (Moriond), and Courchevel 1850, which are named for their altitudes in metres. The ski area offers wonderfully wide, gentle and immaculately groomed pistes, many running through pretty forests. Its north-facing aspect means the snow quality is excellent. The resort is spread over five villages, each with very different personalities. You can choose between the glamour of Courchevel 1850, the rustic charm of Le Praz, the vibrant nightlife in Courchevel Moriond, the budget-friendly Courchevel Village or the family-favourite La Tania.
There are loads of events in Courchevel and Les Trois Vallees year-round. From quirky local events to large scale sporting spectacles, there is always something worth visiting. Every February, the spectacular International Festival of Pyrotechnic Art comes to the resort. Summer highlights include the Courchevel Air Show, Les Trois Vallees mountain bike event and the occasional stage of the Tour de France.
Everything about Courchevel is high-end, from the perfectly groomed runs and state-of-the-art lift system to the Michelin-starred restaurants, exclusive high-end hotels and chalets, glamorous nightlife and stylish designer boutiques.
In Courchevel there are plenty of activities to fill your days with from paragliding, husky sledging and hire skidoos. In the village you can go to the bowling alley, visit all the local shops and restaurants and go indoor rock climbing. One of Courchevel’s main attractions away from the skiing is its ice rink. Most resorts have an ice rink but not all resorts have an Olympic ice rink.
The Courchevel Valley is divided into 5 ski sections ̶ Moriond, Tania, Saulire, Biollay and Loze. A snow-sure resort with plenty of sheltered north-facing runs, ample off-piste opportunities and one of the highest Alpine treelines (2300 m), Courchevel has much to recommend it to skiers of all styles and abilities. The scenery here is remarkable, and you can ski across iconic summits like Mont Vallon, Cime Caron, La Masse, and Vizella, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of majestic mountains like Les Écrins and Mont Blanc. Don’t forget to stop at the summit of Le Signal for one of the world’s best photo opportunities, ̶ it is truly stunning!
With 700 snow cannons in The Three Valleys, the pistes are always immaculately groomed and snow is more reliable than the rest of the 3 Valleys as most of the slopes are North facing. Courchevel resort and The Three Valleys assures they will deliver “more snow than any other ski area”. This season sees it doubling its snow making capability.
