La Rosiere is located at 1850 m in the middle of Haute Tarentaise and along with neighbouring Italian resort La Thuile, it forms the huge Espace San Bernardo ski area.
A traditional, family-friendly ski village, it sits across the valley from Paradiski hotspots Les Arcs and Villaroger, but it’s quieter, snow-sure slopes are ideal for families. Children and novices can find their ski legs on its roomy nursery slopes, there are plenty of blue and red runs for intermediates and a smattering of more challenging black runs for advanced skiers – not to mention thrilling adventures like heli-skiing across the border in Italy!
With a good choice of comfortable family-oriented accommodation, some of which is ski-to-door, pet friendly and includes spa and pool facilities, plenty of activities for all the family and a selection of friendly restaurants and bars, La Rosiere is the perfect ski resort for any family that wants to chill out, take advantage of quality slopes that are much less crowded than some of the more well-known neighbouring resorts, and socialise in a serene atmosphere amidst stunning Alpine scenery.
If you want to experience the mountain views that La Rosiere has to offer but not from your skies, then you have the option to go paragliding, take a hot air balloon ride, or go on a helicopter tour. You can also get up the mountain by renting some snowmobiles or by having a go on a dog sledge.
If you want a relaxing day in the resort, then you have the option of going to the ice rink or visiting one of the village’s indoor sports facilities, where you can use the swimming pool and spa facilities.
When you’re skiing in La Rosiere, you’ll find a great choice of intermediate and advanced runs on both sides of the border, with superb steep north-facing pistes and pristine fresh powder. The lion’s share of the ski area in La Rosiere lies above the tree line on the expansive slopes that range up northwards on a ridge descending from the Italian border. The east side of this territory is the beating heart of the resort’s skiing opportunities, with an efficient lift network delivering you to thrilling red runs winding down to Combe des Moulins – there’s usually plenty of fresh powder between the pistes and this is an awesome area for improving intermediate skiers.
Together, both La Rosiere and La Thuile make up the Espace San Bernardo ski area. There are 306 snow making facilities over the joint 160 km of pisted terrain for guaranteed snowfall over the couse of the season.
