Les Menuires is nestled in the stunning Belleville Valley – it’s a stone’s throw from St Martin de Belleville and in a great location to enjoy the renowned Les Trois Vallées ski area.
This is a quiet, family-friendly ski resort which is a brilliant base for exploring the 600 km of pistes for skiers of all abilities in the wider Trois Vallées, which includes iconic destinations like Val Thorens, Méribel and Courchevel and is arguably the most famous ski area in the world.
Les Menuires is an inclusive, efficient and friendly French ski resort which is split into two centres, Reberty/Les Bruyères and La Croisette, each of which has its own unique ambience, with shops, restaurants and attractive traditional style buildings.
In Les Menuries there are activities for everyone and anyone. For people who want to relax and take a step back from the mountain, they can walk around the village, visit many of the shops and restaurants around the resort. There is also a swimming pool available to you to go and relax in at the end of a big day on the slopes.
If you’re looking for something a bit more thrilling, then you could rent some quad bikes or snowmobiles, go down the toboggan run, or book in to go paragliding and enjoy the mountain views.
For families and solo skiers who want a manageable introduction to skiing and snowboarding, the nursery slopes and green runs of Les Menuires are perfect, while an expansive network of blue, red and black runs (plus off-piste skiing) awaits more adventurous intermediate and advanced snowsports enthusiasts.
Freeriders will love the secure but unpisted ‘liberty ride’ marked areas where you can find fresh powder and ride safely. There are three such zones – one at La Masse which you reach via the Masse 2 cable car, another at La Riondaz accessed by the St Martin 2 ski lift, and the final at Les Pylones, which you reach by the Sunny Express ski lift. Meanwhile, an excellent alternative freeride option is the gnarly off-piste run from Lac du Lou to Vallée des Encombres.
The ski season takes place from November to April, and all the runs are immaculately maintained to guarantee the smoothest surface possible for visitors. 85% of the ski area is above 1800 m and there are 2189 snow cannons covering 49% of the ski area to guarantee snow cover.
There are 4 airports that join to Les Menuires: Chambery is 100 km away (1h30 mins drive), Geneva is 143 km (2h30-3h drive), Lyon is 183 km (3h – 3h30 drive) and Grenoble (3h – 3h30 drive).
