Meribel is a renowned ski resort where you can experience that quintessential ski holiday. Stay in a traditional wooden chalet, admire stunning mountain scenery, ski one of the biggest domains in the world and let your hair down at one of the famous après-ski bars. The Meribel Valley is one of the most popular destinations for British skiers. Consisting of picture-postcard chalets and chalet-style apartment buildings and hotels; Meribel has retained all the charm of a traditional mountain village with its wood and stone buildings and forest setting.
Fast, modern ski lifts offer easy access to the Meribel ski area and the 3 Valleys, which has 600 km of groomed slopes. Meribel Centre is the largest of several villages in the resort and is home to the main shopping area and the greatest selection of restaurants.
In Meribel there are many both on and off snow activities. For the on-snow activities, you could see how brave you are by having a go at landing on the big airbag, and even try some tricks! There is also the option of going snowmobiling and ice climbing if you want a thrill. From the people looking for more relaxing activities you go husky sledding, where you can be taken around by a guide or learn how to control your own pack, or you can hire some snowshoes and explore your surroundings at a more sedate pace.
For the off-snow activities, there is a swimming pool and spa which is perfect to retire to after a long day skiing to go and relax. At the spa, there are treatment rooms where you can receive a wide range of massages and beauty treatments. If you are on holiday with your children then there are activities for them, such as the bowling alley, cinema and the indoor climbing pool.
You’ll find some of the best groomed pistes in the Alps here, plentiful off-piste action and runs for novices, intermediates and experts. The lift system from Méribel to neighbouring resorts is very smooth and efficient. The Saulire Express gondola takes you from the centre of the resort to the 2700 m Saulire peak in just 12 minutes, the Plattières gondola from Mottaret reaches 3 Marches in nine minutes and the Combes chairlift from Mottaret helps ease congestion during peak usage times.
Meribel's high altitude makes it a very snow sure resort, and also has lots of snow canons along the pistes.
Chambery is Meribel's closest airport, being a 1 hour 30 minute drive. Geneva airport is a 3 hour and 30 minute drive.
